Safari little Kenya

The special round trip „My little Kenya ». Samburu &
Buffalo Springs, Baringo lake, Bogoria.

1. Day HOME – NAIROBI : Arrival in Nairobi and overnight accommodation in a charming hotel in the proximity of the Nairobi park.

2. Day: NAIROBI – SAMBURU : Trip after Samburu and Buffalo jump accommodation with full board in Serena Lodge (Ewaso Nyiro river).

Samburu and Buffalo Springs, approximately 385 km², 325 km north of Nairobi. Samburu National Reserve lies north of Nairobi, adjoining with Buffalo Springs and Shaba National Reserve. The lifeline of these three sanctuaries, the palm fringed Uaso Nyiro River, attracts vast and varied herds of game, abundant bird life and crocodile infested waters.

Samburu National Reserve has an endless pageant of wildlife with frequent nocturnal visits from the leopard family right from your lodge’s main gate. Samburu National Reserve has excellent game spots for reticulate giraffe, the unusual Beisa Oryx with its lovely long straight horns, gleaming black and white coat impala, blue legged Somali ostrich, waterbuck, Grant’s gazelles, dik dik, duiker, olive baboons, gerenuks, llions, spotted and striped hyenas.

3. Day: SAMBURU – BUFFALO – SPRINGS : Samburu & Buffalo jump. Accommodation with full board in Serena Lodge (Ewaso Nyiro river).

4. Day: SAMBURU – BARINGO and BOGORIA LAKE : Departure to the Baringo lake trip with picknick. Dinner and overnight accomodation in Iceland Camp Baringo with full board.

BARINGO LAKE KENYA

Lake Baringo is, after Lake Turkana, the most northern of the Kenyan Rift Valley lakes, with a surface area of about 130 square kilometres (50 sq mi) and an elevation of about 970 metres (3,180 ft). The lake is fed by several rivers, Molo, Perkerra and Ol Arabel, and has no obvious outlet; the waters are assumed to seep through lake sediments into the faulted volcanic bedrock. It is one of the two freshwater lakes in the Rift Valley in Kenya, the other being Lake Naivasha. It lies off the beaten track in a hot and dusty setting and over 470 species of birds have been recorded there, occasionally including migrating flamingos.

BOGORIA LAKE KENYA

Lake Bogoria, 107 km2, well known for its colonies of pink flamingo is located 200 km to the north-west, considered by many to be the most beautiful lake in Kenya with its metallic green water and geysers. Lake Bogoria is a saline, alkaline lake that lies in a volcanic region in a half-graben basin south of Lake Baringo, Kenya, a little north of the equator. Lake Bogoria, like Lake Nakuru, Lake Elmenteita, and Lake Magadi further south in the Rift Valley, and Lake Logipi to the north, is home at times to one of the world’s largest populations of lesser flamingoes. The soda waters of the lake attract massive flocks of Flamingo, and the lake is often carpeted with pink.

The 32 sq km lake is still volcanically active, and the Western shore is lined with spouting geysers, spurting steam and bubbling geothermal pools. Some 30 km (20 miles) south of Lake Baringo, as the ruddy ducks flies, is Lake Bogoria National Reserve. This small equatorial lake has geysers, and hot springs. They are relatively few vantage points from which you can see it but its topaz and green waters are strikingly beautiful.
